Be mindful – Reduce, Reuse, Recycle

Plastic Free July^® is a global movement that helps millions of people be part of the solution to plastic pollution – so we can have cleaner streets, oceans, and beautiful communities. Will you be part of Plastic Free July by choosing to refuse single-use plastics?

Before you buy something ask yourself Why am I buying this?

There are many reasons why, the main one would be an emotional trigger.

The sooner we realise that we don’t need half of the items we buy, after all great marketing convinces us every day that we need to purchase and consume. We are living in such a throwaway, wasteful, plastic filled society. This July put a list together of 3 things that fill you up emotionally. Could be cuddling your cat, going for a bike ride or reading your favourite book. Nothing brought, nothing wasted.

If there is a need to buy something with this mindset, moving forward you will be making more mindful decisions.

When you get rid of things you no longer want, rather than bin it ask yourself:

1/ Can I donate this to a charity or Opp shop?

2/ Can I drop the item / off at an e waste or recycling facility?

3/ Do any family members or friends have a need for it?

4/ Can I upcycle this item and give it a new purpose?

Let go of the need to buy constantly, spend time with people you love, buy yourself experiences instead of things.

Waste less, discard wisely!

Swap, sell, repurpose and epicycle the things you no longer want or need. Try eliminating plastics from your life, once you have developed a habit for one thing and you have eliminated that plastic you will go onto the next item and so on.. Turn your plastic reduction into a weekly, or monthly goal or team challenge with family and friends.. don’t be afraid to share handy tips too!
